Back online

Well, uh, I suppose I should start with a greeting. Hello, world! My blog, a true masterpiece of literature loved by a grand total of zero readers, is finally back online.

Quite a lot has changed since my last post an entire year ago. I got into some new hobbies, ditched some old ones, physically moved across the world, and revamped my website. What hasn’t changed is my inability to complete anything. Like many other things I’ve dabbled in, this blog was abandoned after a week-or-so of activity. Why? I suppose I could blame the lack of readership, complexity of maintenence, or absence of inspiration. But at the end of the day, the simple answer is just “no.”

So, what has changed? Why am I revisiting this thing on a random Friday? Over the past month or so, I’ve been weirdly interested in the concept of one’s “Google identity,” what a complete stranger would know about someone else solely by looking up their name. Mine… isn’t great. Sure, I’ve been somewhat active on various platforms scattered across the internet, but I’ve never had a online place that’s purely me. That sounds like some nonsense a cult puts in a recruitment ad, but it’s true. Friends I know in real life maybe know a lot about me, maybe even a bit too much, but that’s all temporary and can all change like the tides in an ocean. The only thing permanent, as I’ve found out, is a blog. Tweets can be censored, videos can be taken down, but markdown files on a private domain last forever.

Wow that was bullshitty. Alright, so, what am I trying to say? Over the coming month, I’ll try to write at least one blog post a day. Who’ll read it? Not just friends, but also strangers across the globe whose entire knowledge of me is my 7-character username. No idea what I’ll write about yet; I guess we’ll see tomorrow.

Finally, welcome back to my blog. Feel free to crack open a bottle of champagne now. Yay.
